My lessons are friendly, structured and focused on helping students make measurable progress. I begin by identifying the student’s current level, strengths and areas for development, then tailor each session to their individual needs and exam board.
Lessons typically combine a short knowledge recap, clear explanations of key concepts, worked examples and plenty of exam practice. I place a strong emphasis on applying knowledge to real-world businesses and economic situations, as well as developing the skills needed to achieve higher marks.
For Business, we focus on understanding concepts, analysing case studies, calculations and developing strong answers to longer exam questions. For Economics, lessons cover theory, diagrams, data response questions, evaluation and 20/25-mark essays.
I use regular questioning and retrieval practice to check understanding and revisit areas where students need further support. Exam questions are marked and discussed so students understand not only what they got wrong, but how to improve their answers and gain additional marks.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, including GCSE, A Level and BTEC Business and Economics, I understand the demands of different exam boards and the importance of effective exam technique.
My aim is to make every lesson engaging, purposeful and supportive while building the knowledge, confidence and independent study skills students need to succeed.
