I offer engaging and practical online tutoring in biology, microbiology, and environmental science, drawing on hands-on research experience from leading institutions, including Aberystwyth University and the Australian Institute of Marine Science.
My background spans molecular biology, microbiology, and marine ecology, allowing me to support students from GCSE/A-level through to undergraduate level. I specialise in simplifying complex topics such as DNA/RNA analysis, PCR, bioinformatics, and microbial ecology, combining clear explanations with real-world research examples.
Through my work on projects such as coral microbiomes and Arctic cryoconite ecosystems, I’ve developed strong expertise in laboratory techniques (sterile technique, plating methods, DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis) as well as data analysis using R and bioinformatics tools. I also have experience teaching and mentoring students, having designed and delivered practical lab training for master’s students.
My tutoring sessions are interactive and tailored to each student’s goals, whether that’s exam preparation, coursework support, or building confidence with scientific concepts. I aim not only to improve grades but also to help students think like scientists by developing their analytical and problem-solving skills.
My goal is to continue growing as an educator while supporting my research and academic career, building confidence both in my students and in myself, and fostering a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for science. I hold an Upper 2:1 BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology with industry experience, with research spanning ecotoxicology, conservation genetics, and ecological data analysis, alongside strong fieldwork and quantitative skills, communication, teamwork, and independent research abilities. I am passionate about helping students succeed.
