I offer a free initial consultation, in order to gather your requirements and create an individual used learning plan for pupils, through discussion with pupil and parents. I am flexible about the format and frequency of lessons to suit individual needs, and can provide online or in-person classes, individually or in a small group. I have expertise in Neurodiversities such as Autism, ADHD and DCD, as well as Specific Learning Difficulties, such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, etc and English as an Additional Language, Bilingualism and Elective Mutism. I have taught pupils in mainstream from Nursery to P7 in mainstream and special schools with complex needs.
I can provide initial and ongoing assessment, where needs are not clearly defined, signpost helpful referrals, supportive organisations and relevant background reading materials, as well as use, and provide, a range of supportive resources to facilitate learning. I offer a solution-focused approach in order to celebrate strengths and identify areas of need.
I have a fun, engaging approach to learning, which is based on the pupil's individual needs, neurodiversity and learning style. I feel it is important to listen to the pupil's personal preferences and teach according to their strengths and interests. I also place emphasis on encouraging self-esteem and confidence, developing self-help strategies for greater independence in other learning contexts and self-advocacy skills. Therefore, as well as covering the basics to ensure a solid understanding, I would encourage exploration of more challenging areas and ensure they meet their full potential by challenging barriers to learning and fostering a love of learning.
