My lessons are personalised to the individual student – because I believe effective tutoring starts with understanding the learner, not simply teaching the subject.
I provide one-to-one tuition in Mathematics and Combined Science for students in Years 8–11. Each session is tailored to the student's current level, areas of difficulty and individual goals.
I begin by identifying any gaps in understanding before explaining concepts clearly and building them up step by step. I use worked examples, guided practice and independent questions to make sure students don't simply know what to do, but understand why they are doing it.
Wherever possible, particularly in Maths, I relate topics to real-life situations so students can see why what they are learning matters beyond the classroom.
What makes my approach different is that I don't just focus on the subject – I focus on the student.
Alongside my experience working with secondary school students, I have qualifications in Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Coaching and Mentoring. I use this knowledge to help students overcome barriers such as low confidence, lack of motivation and a fear of getting things wrong, while developing resilience and more effective learning habits.
For GCSE students, lessons increasingly incorporate exam-style questions, problem-solving, revision strategies and exam technique, while still addressing any underlying gaps in knowledge.
My aim is not simply to help a student answer today's question. I want them to understand the method, become increasingly confident tackling problems independently and develop skills they can carry back into the classroom and eventually into their exams.
Building confident learners, one lesson at a time.
