My lessons are structured, supportive, and focused on building real understanding. I believe that students perform best in maths when they understand the ideas behind a topic, rather than memorising steps without knowing why they work. For this reason, each lesson begins with a clear explanation of the key concepts, using simple language and examples that are appropriate for the student’s level.

Once the underlying ideas are understood, I guide students through the problem-solving process step by step. I explain common methods, why each step is used, and how to recognise which approach to apply in different situations. Students are encouraged to ask questions throughout the lesson and to explain their thinking, which helps strengthen understanding and confidence.

To consolidate learning, I place strong emphasis on exam-style questions. We practise a range of questions, starting with simpler ones and gradually moving to more challenging exam-level problems. I also help students develop good exam technique, including how to structure answers, avoid common mistakes, and manage time effectively.

I have experience working with students of different abilities and learning styles, and I adapt my teaching approach to suit each individual. My aim is to create a calm and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. By combining clear explanations, structured problem-solving, and targeted exam practice, I help students build confidence and achieve consistent progress in maths. By working with me, students not only improve their maths skills but also gain confidence, develop independent thinking, and enjoy the learning process.
