Nathan Darby

Hi, I’m Nathan! I am a first class BSc Biomedical Science student in my final year at the University of Sheffield. I am a very passionate Biologist and would love the opportunity to pass my knowledge (and excitement) onto others. On top of my degree, I obtained an A* (Geography) and 2 A’s (Biology/Psychology) at A-level, meaning I have good understanding of the assessment and what is required. My GCSE exams were interrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak, however I also have a good understanding of the syllabus. My subjects were part of the AQA board, however all of my knowledge is applicable across all boards.

I have over 20 hours experience volunteering in year 12 workshops to inform students about science careers, as well as delivering practical sessions and scientific writing/skills sessions.

Outside of tutoring, I have over a year of work experience in lab placement roles, including a year long placement at GlaxoSmithKline and a 6 week Scholarship in a cancer lab at the University of Sheffield. As a result, I have a highly developed and diverse understanding of Biology.

I am confident I can provide a good tutoring experience, having waited until my final year to ensure that students have the best service possible. I am happy to give the first session free as a taster to ensure you are happy with this.


My Lessons:
My lessons will be hosted online. I am willing to structure lessons however you are comfortable! I am happy to adapt to how you best learn and engage, and will focus on any topics or areas where you need support. I am also happy to provide support on examination technique or other related questions.
