Naomi Leake

I have two masters degrees one in Art and a PGCE. I'm an artist with 20 years industry experience and a teacher with 10 years of experience. I have taught all ages, from a primary students very first attempts, to applying for art scholarships, A levels or college courses. I have taught up to Masters level in art.
My lessons are based, first and foremost in the practical - here lies the joy! Joyfull engagement with the subject is the best springboard to the more technical aspects of idea development, experimentation, composition, formal elements, art history etc. I build effective and fun relationships with people quickly because I am passionate about the benefits of a creative education. I'm believe there is no such thing as a mistake, just a new direction. Great art education can make children powerful and adults happy.
Creative ideas are not made in a void so looking at other artists work is not just inspiring but an important tool to expand the students understanding. Get to know what they do and don't like, expand their kit bag of techniques and explore the world of ideas that exist behind each art work.
Each student will understand the objectives of each lesson and through sketchbook work keep a record of their progress that will surprise them with their own abilities.
The energy, patience and fun embedded in my teaching practice is complimented by a uniquely personal approach to each and every student. We are all so very individual and that individuality is what makes an artist!
