My teaching approach is centred around clarity, patience, and adapting to each student’s individual needs. I start by assessing the student’s current understanding, strengths, and areas for improvement, so I can tailor lessons specifically to them rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
I focus on breaking down complex mathematical concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations, using clear examples and visual methods where helpful.
Practice is a key part of my teaching, so I provide guided questions during lessons and independent work to reinforce learning. I gradually increase difficulty to build confidence and ensure students feel comfortable tackling more challenging problems.
Importantly, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe building confidence is just as important as improving technical skills, especially in maths.
Finally, I regularly review progress and adjust my teaching approach based on how the student is developing, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable results.
I have experience teaching mathematics across a range of levels, including leading maths clubs for primary school students, where I focused on making learning engaging and interactive. I have also provided one-to-one tutoring for GCSE students. In addition, I hold a degree in Mathematics, which has given me a strong foundation in the subject and enables me to explain concepts clearly and effectively across different ability levels.
