As a recent graduate and now a barrister and advocate (dual qualified), I know what has worked well in the past, and I'm open to newer methods. What matters is that the student leaves the class more confident of the law than they were when they started. My lessons are designed to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical legal thinking. Each session is interactive, structured, and student-led; focusing on what the student finds most challenging, whether it’s breaking down case law, essay structuring, or sharpening analytical reasoning.
I begin by identifying a student’s strengths, goals, and areas of difficulty, followed by tailored lesson plans built around core legal subjects--Contract, Tort, Criminal, Public, EU, and Equity for undergraduates, and Advocacy, Evidence, and Professional Ethics for BTC students. I incorporate real case discussions, short problem questions, and oral reasoning exercises to help students think like a lawyer rather than merely memorize the law.
My background—being called to the Bar of England and Wales, holding an LLB from the University of Birmingham, and working as a paralegal--allows me to combine academic precision with practical insight. From international internships, mooting, and pro bono work, I’ve developed an approach that values clarity, confidence, and critical engagement with legal material.
Ultimately, my sessions aim to make law less intimidating and more accessible. I aim to encourage open dialogue, active questioning, and self-assessment throughout lessons so that students become independent thinkers rather than passive learners. Each session concludes with short recap notes and optional follow-up tasks to reinforce understanding and measure steady progress over time.
