What my lessons are like

My lessons are practical, friendly and built around you. In the first session, I find out your current level, your course or goals, and what you find difficult. From there I plan lessons that fit your pace, whether you're preparing for GCSE or A level Computer Science, catching up on a university module, or learning to code from scratch.

My teaching method

I believe the fastest way to learn programming is by doing it. Each lesson usually follows a simple pattern:

Recap and questions: We review what you've covered and clear up anything that's still confusing.
Explain the concept simply: I break each topic into small steps, using plain language and real-world examples before introducing technical terms.
Code together: I demonstrate on a shared screen, then you try it yourself while I guide you. Making mistakes and debugging them is part of learning, and I'll teach you how to find and fix errors on your own.
Practice and feedback: You get small tasks or mini-projects to try between sessions, and I give clear, honest feedback on your code.

I focus on explaining the reasoning behind a solution rather than just giving answers, so you become a confident, independent programmer. I'm also happy to review your assignments, explain lecture material, help with coursework projects, or guide a personal project from idea to launch.

My experience

I'm currently studying for an MSc in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Dundee, and I hold a BS in Computer Science. I have over two and a half years of professional experience as a full-stack and mobile developer, building web and mobile apps used by real people, including apps published on Google Play and the App Store. I've also worked with databases, APIs, AI tools and computer vision, so I can show you how what you learn in class is used in real software.

Qualities you can expect

Patient: No question is too basic, and we'll go over things as many times as you need.
Clear: I explain complex ideas in a simple, step-by-step way.
Practical: Real examples and hands-on projects, not just theory.
Supportive: As a current student, I understand deadlines, exam pressure and the stress of new material.
Flexible: Lessons adapt to your course, your goals and your schedule.

Whether you're a beginner or aiming for top grades, I'll help you build real skills and the confidence to use them.

Education and qualifications

Bachelor's Degree: My Bachelor's degree in Computer Science gave me a strong foundation in the core principles of programming and computing. Over four years, I studied how software is designed, built and tested, from wrMaster's degree (M) (studying): I'm currently studying for an MSc in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Dundee, building on my Bachelor's degree with a deeper, more specialised understanding of modern computing.
