My GCSE Science lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I usually begin with a quick recap quiz or warm-up to check recall of key facts. Then, we focus on one or two specific topics each session, breaking them down into clear, step-by-step explanations with real-life examples so they feel less abstract.
I make use of:
Past papers & exam-style questions to build exam confidence.
Active recall techniques (mini quizzes, keyword prompts, flash-style questioning).
Visual aids and diagrams to simplify tricky processes (like photosynthesis or electricity).
Discussion & problem solving, encouraging students to explain ideas back to me — this deepens understanding.
Lessons always end with a short summary and practice task so students walk away with the key points fresh in mind. I also provide personalised revision tips, topic checklists, and optional homework to reinforce learning between sessions.
Content covered
I teach across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), including both Combined and Triple Science. I also guide students through required practicals, showing them how to apply knowledge in data analysis and exam questions.
Dynamics of lessons
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and adaptable. I know some students struggle with confidence in Science, so I create a supportive environment where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process. I always adjust the pace depending on whether a student needs to revisit foundations or is aiming for higher-level exam skills.
My experience
I have a degree in Biomedical Science and am currently training to become a qualified teacher through a PGCE. Alongside this, I’ve supported students in secondary school and through private tutoring, helping them improve grades, exam technique, and confidence.
