I have a strong passion for traditional art and have been awarded an Art Scholarship for Sixth Form, alongside being predicted a Grade 9 in GCSE Art. As an Art Prefect, I enjoy encouraging and sharing my love for art with others. As I look forward to studying Art at A-Level, I would love the opportunity to inspire young children through teaching while continuing to develop as an artist myself. I also have experience working with children through volunteering at church and helping to lead activities for younger students in my school's Combined Cadet Force (CCF). I believe every child can learn to express themselves through drawing with patience, encouragement and practice. I aim to make my lessons engaging and supportive so children can build confidence in their own creativity and a love for art in their early years. In a group or one-on-one setting, I will teach foundational drawing skills including:Awareness of shapes and lines by exploring different types of marks (curvy, zig-zag etc.)Awareness of space and composition by gently introducing ideas about how objects can sit together on a pageControl and tone and how pressure can create lighter and darker tones and thicker or thinner linesBasic form by helping children to spot simple shapes and objects around them or in referencesI will create a fun environment by:Easing children into creativity with different textures and materials such as crayons, oil pastels and glitter to create a fun sensory experienceAllowing children to fully explore real objects as still life references to develop creativity and further their basic skillsListening to the children to hear their ideas and thoughts on activities and encourage sharing and group projects to build bonds and social skillsIntroducing drawing based games and challenges to keep children engagedKeeping sessions active and highly engaging through the use of creative prompts like music or storytellingI will aim to offer highly encouraging, positive praise to celebrate the child’s effort and success. I will also always be ready to listen to the child’s own ideas and stories about their drawings, engaging with them and helping them feel entirely comfortable to approach me with any questions. My aim is to build confidence, and I hope to be able to pass on some of the most encouraging and beneficial advice from my own tutors to foster a warm, and pressure-free environment. My standard rate is £15 per hour to cover my public transport travel expenses. I am completely willing to travel up to 30 minutes by bus to your location, and I will happily bring a selection of early-years drawing supplies (paper, pastels, and chunky crayons) to our sessions at no extra cost!
