I like to use a variety of presentations, test papers and recall to make up a lesson. Most importantly, I ensure that lessons are interactive so that they don't feel like a chore! In my experience as a primary school teacher, I found that hands on experience combined with repetition is best for retention. Depending on the subject and current level of the child, I will adapt on the spot to make sure that all gaps are filled to help with future learning and build a solid base for new topics to be built upon. I endeavor not to drone on for too long and to take into account the interests of each child and incorporate them into the learning. If you like dinosaurs, we can multiply them and divide them into groups. If you like performing, we can write a script!
I have worked across all years from Reception to Year 6 and can assure you that I will put my all into helping a child make progress. I have worked with children with a variety of additional needs and am able to adapt accordingly for all children to get the most out of each session. To make a primary school tutoring sessions fun and engaging, I use games, colorful visuals, and interactive activities. I like to include songs, storytelling, or drawing to reinforce lessons. I often praise effort, encourage questions, and tailor activities to the child’s interests. I keep sessions short, upbeat, and varied to maintain attention and enthusiasm.
