I am a current A-Level Mathematics student at the Wallace High School Lisburn with a strong understanding of primary school mathematics and experience supporting younger students through maths mentoring.

At Wallace, I have taken part in a maths mentoring programme, where I worked closely with younger students to help them understand topics they found challenging. This has helped me develop clear communication skills, patience, and the ability to explain ideas in a way that is easy to understand.

My lessons are student focused and adaptable, based on each child's individual needs. I support students by going over homework they are struggling with, answering questions from class, and revisiting topics they feel unsure about. I break all problems down into small manageable steps so students can understand each part clearly before moving on.

Lessons are calm, structured, and encouraging. We usually begin by identifying areas of difficulty, then work through examples together before the student tries similar questions independently with guidance and support. I am to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. I understand that every student learns at a different pace, so I take time to adjust my explanations to suit each learner. I focus on explaining things in a simple and calm way, my aim is to make lessons feel supportive rather than stressful.

As a current student, I understand how confusing maths can sometimes feel and how important it is to have clear and supportive explanations. My goal is not only to help students improve their maths skills, but also to help them feel more confident, capable and positive about learning maths
