This is how I learnt at university and I found that it really tailors your education to what is best for you. I also find that at my day job in secondary education, the children benefit from this style. I understand that for some students following a strict format or itinerary for a lesson is essential for them, which is why my lessons shall start with that intention. This will make sure that the student has their freedom to guide their lesson in a way best for them.
I will always begin with a quick recap from the previous lesson, followed by the next task. Whether that is a new topic entirely or a continuation of the current one to further the knowledge. This task will be the main body of the lesson. It will always end with a plenary to sum up what we have done that day and to assess what needs to be planned for the next lesson. This will show me if we need to move on or stay on the current topic for a while longer.
Overall, I have my best interest in the student and I believe that they know what is best for them. I am there to guide them and to give my input, however, I will always listen to the student first to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
