Miguel Garcia Montes

I am an experienced Spanish teacher with 28 years in the classroom, working in leading independent and international schools across Spain, Italy and the UK. Since 2016, I have taught Spanish language, culture, and conversation at TASIS The International American School in England, delivering the IB Diploma Programme, AP, and ACTFL curricula.

Having taught students of many different nationalities, I understand how learners from varied linguistic and cultural backgrounds approach Spanish, which structures cause them difficulty, and how to design study plans that anticipate those challenges. I adapt content, pace, and materials to each group, and I am also a specialist DELE preparation teacher at all levels (A1-C2).

My teaching methods are dynamic, communicative and student-centred, with a strong focus on oral expression. I encourage students to speak from the first lesson through conversation, role-plays, discussion and real-life tasks that build fluency and confidence.

Colleagues and students know me as dynamic, adaptable and resourceful. My Master’s degree in Spanish language teaching and my IB professional development certification reflect my commitment to continuous improvement, and I remain as passionate about teaching as on my first day.
