My lessons are designed to be clear, supportive, and tailored to the needs of each student. I can teach through Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and where useful I can use PowerPoint presentations to give sessions a clear structure and help explain topics in a visual, easy-to-follow way. This can be particularly helpful in history when working through complex events, themes, timelines, or source material.
However, I always adapt lessons to suit the individual rather than following a fixed format. Some students may need help understanding the wider context behind a topic, while others may want more focused support with essay writing, source analysis, revision strategies, or exam preparation. I am also happy to include exercises and guided tasks within lessons so that students can practise skills, apply what they have learned, and build confidence as they progress.
As a training designer and instructor by trade, I have extensive experience planning and delivering structured learning to suit different needs and ability levels. My background in the military has involved instructing both young adults and more senior soldiers, which has taught me the importance of clear communication, patience, and adapting my approach to different learners. Alongside this, I completed my BA (Hons) History degree, which strengthened my subject knowledge and developed my skills in analysis, research, and written argument.
Overall, my aim is to make history more approachable, engaging, and understandable. I want students to leave lessons feeling more confident in their knowledge, stronger in their skills, and better able to tackle the challenges of the subject.
