During my time in secondary education I learnt the high academic standards expected from students. Therefore, this experience allows me to relate to students but also teach them in a way that feels familiar,warm and effective.

My teaching style is mainly student oriented. I prefer focusing on a student’s weakness in their subjects. Once that has been identified, I personalise the lesson so that difficult scientific and mathematical concepts are broken down into more simpler and manageable steps. I tend to focus a lot on strong fundamentals, as we can always build upon that knowledge and it gives the pupil a deeper understanding and helps build confidence and problem-solving skills. I’ve taught groups of around 12 students aged 14-15, strengthened my ability to explain concepts and support learners with different needs.

I have provided tutoring to a Year 11 student for over a year. This gave me a good understanding of exam practice, preparation and also curriculum requirements.

As a tutor, I aim to create an environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and ask me for help to further progress their education. Again, having been a student myself I understand the struggles and hence I want to create a supportive atmosphere where my students feel motivated. Tutoring sessions can be for homework help, exam prep, learning new concepts and reinforcing core concepts. To do this, I’m more than happy to provide consistent feedback and support.
