I prioritise teaching students how to think like historians and articulate their ideas in a concise and clear academic manner, particularly under exam conditions. I have extensive expertise in advanced historical essay writing, in-depth primary and secondary source evaluation, critical analysis, and historical theoretical approaches. These are the exact skills that will enable students to achieve higher band grades in GCSE and A-Level assessments and exams.

Every student learns differently, my lessons are highly personalised and tailored to fit the individual needs of each student.

A typical session focuses on three core pillars:

1) We start with quick and interactive task to identify key historical figures and events across specific eras, helping with initial lesson focus and building overall historical knowledge .

2) Gaining a clear and precise understanding of requirements of each exam board. Directly engaging with past papers and examiner reports (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) to help students confidently determine what the question is specifically asking for and how to construct a high level, relevant answers.

3) Mastering essay structure and historical writing. It is vital for students to understand framework of essay writing and source analysis. I teach students how to critical analyse historical evidence while providing expertise on sentence structure, theoretical terms and utilisation of modern ideas and scholarship. This allows them to write compelling and analytical historical arguments which translate into high grade exam answers.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long. This is the optimal time to explore a specific historical theme, practice an exam question, and provide constructive feedback without causing mental fatigue. For advanced A-Level students preparing for exams, 90-minute sessions can be arranged upon request.
