Melandro Cunanan

I am currently based in Ireland and seeking a position where I can apply my training in molecular techniques, analytical work, and biological sciences.

I have been teaching in the college-level Biology program at Angeles University Foundation in the Philippines for nine years. During this time, I guided students in both theoretical and practical aspects of biology, strengthening my expertise in scientific communication and laboratory instruction. I completed my Master of Science in Biology at the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest university in the Philippines, and also pursued a PhD in Biology. I have not yet finished my PhD, as I am currently in the dissertation stage. In March 2026, I relocated to Ireland through family reunification, holding a Stamp 1G visa which allows me to work here.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology, where I gained hands on experience in DNA extraction, PCR, and genetic analysis. This early exposure to laboratory work strengthened my technical skills and sparked my long term interest in molecular and environmental biology. My Master’s degree further developed my competencies in analyzing biological and environmental samples, laboratory procedures, data interpretation, and scientific documentation.
Across my academic and professional experience, I have developed a solid foundation in:
• Molecular techniques — DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sample preparation
• Laboratory operations — maintaining lab records, following SOPs, ensuring sample integrity
• Data analysis — interpreting results, preparing reports, documenting findings
• Scientific communication — writing, presenting, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
