My lessons are structured around the revision methods that helped me succeed in GCSE English, including active recall, exam practice, and breaking content down into simple, clear steps. I understand that many students feel overwhelmed or lack confidence in English, so my lessons are calm, supportive, and focused on progress rather than pressure.

I like to start by identifying what the student finds most difficult, whether that is analysing texts, structuring essays, improving vocabulary, or answering exam questions. From there, I use techniques such as flashcards, guided “blurting” (where students explain ideas out loud), and step-by-step model answers to help information stick. I believe learning works best when students actively engage rather than just listening.

For English Literature, I help students understand key themes, characters, and quotations in a simple way, and show them how to turn ideas into clear paragraphs. For English Language, I focus on improving writing structure, language choices, and exam technique, including how to approach each question confidently.

I explain things clearly and patiently, and I’m always happy to repeat or rephrase ideas until the student feels comfortable. Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace and learning style, and I aim to make English feel more manageable and less intimidating. My goal is to help students feel confident, prepared, and proud of their progress.
