I love teaching. During the last eleven years in the UK, I have been in this profession without a break. Back home, I was a teacher as well. So, I have huge self-motivation for learning and teaching, which keeps me being interested in this profession throughout. I feel immense happiness to discover new worlds and ideas from researching, writing, reading and educating. I would like to develop my career in this area and intend to contribute to the society through this line of work. I believe that this course will help me reach my target.
Upon completion of my B.A and M.A in English language and literature, I joined an English medium school and then moved in a private university as a lecturer of English language and literature. I took my job seriously and started enjoying teaching and writing articles in journals. Later I came to the UK for higher education and selected teaching area as my work during my study in the University of Bedfordshire. I have always found it comfortable, easy, and resourceful while teaching English language and literature. I have got the feeling that only this area of teaching fits me for my life and I have the required potentiality to use it in my job. Consequently, this subject interests me immensely.
I am already in teaching of English language and literature. I have been involved and familiar with this branch of knowledge and teaching since 1999 immediately after my graduation.
In case of the UK education system, I have a good knowledge of the syllabus, resources, and methodologies. Interestingly, though my main area is English language and literature, I have been teaching as a supply teacher for mathematics, science, drama, geography and art in different schools for the last five years. In addition to that, I am working as SEN teacher at various levels. Hence, I think myself I am a suitable candidate for this course.
While working in the mainstream schools, I gained experience that I am using in my private tutoring now. I attended several day long workshops and training sessions organized by AQA. It helped me a lot to know the past and present changes in the English curriculum, texts, question types, answer tricks, etc. I am very well-aware of the AQA English language and literature syllabus. I also attended INSET and training events organized by the schools I worked for. I learnt how to make mark schemes and then implement them.
My latest jobs were in the schools such as: Little Ilford School, Chadwell Heath Academy, Cardinal Pole Catholic School, Eastlea Community School, The Sydney Russell School, Langdon Academy, Mayespark Primary School, Stormont House School, John F Kennedy Special, Hornsey Secondary School, Keir Hardie Primary School, Dorothy Barley Infants' (for 4 weeks) and so on. Apart from this, I taught ‘Research Methodology’ in Brit College in London, where I worked as an IELTS instructor and ESOL teacher as well.
I have immense curiosity for pedagogy. I have done some research in this area as well. If I have more scopes, obviously I will grab it. Every student is the same with a different mind. Pedagogy deals with this sameness and differences and tries to formulate a theory for both types of pupils. I really like any teaching post as it opens up a lot of thoughts and chances for me.
