At the age of 15, I am taking the exciting step of becoming an English tutor for primary school children. I believe that being close in age to my students will allow me to connect with them more easily, making learning feel less intimidating and more engaging. My aim is not only to help them improve their reading, writing, and grammar skills but also to spark a genuine enjoyment for the subject. My lessons will be structured but interactive, beginning with a short warm-up activity to get students focused. For example, I might start with a quick spelling game, word puzzle, or short discussion about a picture. After this, we will move on to the main learning point of the session, whether that’s reading comprehension, creative writing, or learning new vocabulary. I plan to keep each lesson varied by mixing reading, writing, and speaking tasks so the children remain engaged throughout.
The format of my teaching will include visual aids, worksheets, and storytelling, as younger learners often respond best to creativity and imagination. For reading, I will use age-appropriate books and ask questions to test their understanding. For writing, I will encourage them to keep short journals or write simple stories to develop their creativity and confidence. I will also incorporate fun games like word bingo or matching exercises to reinforce grammar and vocabulary.

Overall, my goal is to create a positive, supportive learning environment where children can grow in both skill and confidence while developing a love for English.
