Matthew Summers

I’ve been playing guitar for over seven years, and along the way I’ve built up a strong understanding of music theory, songwriting, and performance. More importantly, I love sharing that knowledge with others and helping students enjoy making music for themselves.

When I teach, I aim to keep lessons clear, practical, and enjoyable. I like to break down tricky ideas into simple steps, and I adapt lessons to each student’s goals—whether they want to play their favourite songs, dive into theory, or start writing their own music. I also make use of digital tools like chord charts, tabs, and backing tracks to keep things interactive and engaging in an online setting.

Outside of teaching, I’ve written and performed music across different styles, from rock and blues to folk and pop. This gives me a flexible approach that works well with students who have varied tastes and learning styles.
