I am a highly motivated and organised gap year student with an excellent academic record (11 9s at GCSE and 3A*s at A Level) working as an online tutor. The most appealing part of tutoring, for me, is getting the chance to help children achieve their potential, as I've had the privilege to do in a variety of contexts. Working as an assistant Latin teacher at Sacred Heart Primary school is where I first experienced the moment when a student goes from being lost and left behind to finding that they have a genuine passion and talent for the subject, becoming excited to raise their hand and share their thoughts. This led me to start working 1 to 1 with younger students struggling with literacy, helping them find books that they are truly curious to understand. It would mean a great deal to me to get the chance to work with GCSE students in the subjects that I am most passionate about (English Literature and Philosophy), and to share that passion with them.
I use Zoom as the platform for my lessons, and allow one 30 minute free taster lesson so that students can make up their mind as to whether my tutoring style is aligned with their preferred way of learning. I'm particularly interested in working with ADHD students, and have many revision tips for staying focused in the period leading up to exams, as well as during the exam itself - though of course, I adapt my teaching to each student!
