About My Lessons & Teaching Style
My Biology lessons are structured, student-centred, and focused on building both confidence and results. I deliver all sessions online via Zoom/Google Meet with an interactive whiteboard, slides, and live diagrams so students stay engaged even virtually.
1. Lesson Format & Dynamics
Each 60-minute lesson follows a clear 3-part structure designed for retention and exam success:
- Starter 5 mins: Quick recap or “Do Now” question based on the previous lesson to strengthen memory and identify gaps.
- Core 45 mins: We focus on 1-2 topics per lesson, breaking complex ideas into simple, logical steps. I use diagrams, real-life examples, and student-led drawing to explain processes like cell division, photosynthesis, and genetics. Students don’t just memorise - they learn "how" and "why" . We also practise exam-style questions every lesson so you get comfortable with question formats early.
- Plenary 10 mins: Mini-test, exit ticket, or past question review to check understanding. Every 3rd lesson includes a dedicated exam technique session where we practise command words, timing, and how examiners award marks.
Between lessons, students receive short practice tasks and I offer 24hr WhatsApp/email support for quick questions. I also track each student’s progress and share feedback so parents know exactly where improvement is happening.
2. Content & Approach
I teach KS3 and GCSE Biology using the same strong foundation principles I’ve used for O-Level/WAEC for 4+ years. The core concepts in Biology are universal - cells, DNA, human systems, and ecology. My strength is taking difficult topics and explaining them in plain English with step-by-step visuals. For students new to GCSE, I bridge the gap by mapping O-Level concepts to GCSE specifications and training students on UK exam techniques, marking schemes, and command words like “explain” vs “describe”.
3. Experience & Results
I have 4+ years of experience teaching Biology online and face-to-face in Nigeria. I’ve trained WAEC/O-Level candidates with a 95% pass rate, and many of my students are now in universities across Nigeria studying Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Biological Sciences. This success comes from my focus on foundation + exam practice. While I’m new to the UK GCSE/A-Level system, I’ve already studied the AQA/Edexcel/OCR specifications and I specialise in quickly adapting my teaching to new syllabuses. My transferable skills - clear explanation, exam practice, and motivating struggling students - are exactly what GCSE students need.
My goal is simple: every student leaves my lesson understanding Biology better than when they logged in. I’d welcome a free 20-minute trial session so we can see if my teaching style fits your learning goals.
