What this looks like can vary for each child but usually involves creating little stories or acronyms to help keep all the information in their head. I understand that learning new things can be very hard and so I like to work at the pace of the child. I try not to put pressure to get the correct answers but rather explain how we get there. Depending on the frequency of the lessons, some homework may be set to help them keep on top of different techniques but this can be refused if the child or guardian do not want this. I did a lot of freelance tutoring whilst in secondary and so have a lot of experience in teaching and listening to where they are already at so I don't repeat what they already know. For each session, a small lesson plan will be created along with some tasks to complete but there is no expectation to get through them all in an hour - if something needs some more explanation, that's okay!
