I am a certified teacher who taught in England and the United States. I have taught students with special needs, behaviour and language challenges, and gifted and talented pupils. Teaching students from various backgrounds improved my instructional skills to deliver instruction diversely. Teaching English is not about passing a class or a test; it is about teaching students how to improve their confidence when reading, writing, and communicating with the spoken word daily. The language of English is a conglomerate of other languages, so it is interesting in itself. I like to find different media to help my students understand new and reminiscent concepts. In my class, I use videos, music, spoken word, art, poetry, and theatre to emphasize the value of the language while providing students with examples of how it is used. I am a practical and hands-on teacher, so I like my students to be actively involved in learning, which may include them standing up, moving from one side of the room to the next, dancing, or singing. Movement is integrated into my lessons because it enhances interest by getting the blood flowing, which breaks up the monotony of the lesson itself. You would love being in Talley's English class!
