I was a private tutor back in Montreal from few months with the company called Tutorat pro. I had in total four students aged between 7-16 years old with my full time employment. I taught essentially French and Mathematics. I also had a kid with ADHD who needed help back at home after school.
As for my style of teaching, usually I go over the curriculum with the student to have an understanding of what was done, what we have to prepare for and on what was the difficulties to adapt my style of teaching. After that I give the student a general test to point out his strength and weaknesses to better adapt homework and lessons. I teach by giving examples, this is the most effective way for a student to remember a lesson. I also understand that the key to learn is repetition so I also more than happy to go over the same lesson few times.
