My lessons are built around one core idea: understanding beats memorising. With 13 years of teaching experience, including extensive work with the IB Diploma Programme in Biology at both Standard and Higher Level, I've seen firsthand that students who truly understand biological concepts perform far better under exam pressure than those who simply try to recall facts.
I currently combine this teaching background with ongoing doctoral research in Neuroscience, which gives me a genuinely evidence-based approach to how lessons are structured. I use this to pace content in a way that actually supports long-term retention, rather than cramming, and to identify exactly where a student's understanding breaks down rather than just re-explaining the same material louder.
My lessons are fully online and structured around each student's specific needs, whether that means working through IB Internal Assessment planning, preparing for the Extended Essay, building exam technique with past papers, or simply strengthening core understanding of topics like cell biology, genetics, ecology, or human physiology. I typically use a mix of visual explanation, guided questioning, and active practice, rather than passive lecturing, since this keeps students engaged and makes it easier to spot gaps in understanding early.
