Mariam Akunjee-Sion

My name is Mariam and I study Physics with Astronomy at the University of Southampton. I am a maths tutor for students ranging from KS2 to GCSE and I have a strong passion in helping students to develop their mathematical intelligence and succeed in their exams, while maintaining a friendly environment and bringing out the fun in maths :)
During my lessons we will work through past papers and exam questions together and I will make model answers for you and write out clear steps leading to the final answer. I am very flexible with how I structure my lessons therefore I would be happy to spend time working through questions across the whole specification, or even dedicate entire sessions to a specific topic!

I believe that every student deserves to be given the chance to excel; therefore I pay close attention to which methods they find most useful in order to plan ahead and create personalised lessons, to build their confidence going into exams and maximise their potential.

As well as working on a physics degree and continuously expanding my knowledge in physics and maths, I also have a background in many different styles of dance (ranging from ballet to streetdance), and several achievments in the field of music; I play 5 instruments and have performed with an orchestra and a pop/rock band at numerous venues, including for the opening of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and the Royal Albert Hall! These experiences have provided me with enhanced creativity and attention to detail when tutoring my students :)
