I am a calm and encouraging tutor. I have experience tutoring French for GCSE, in which I achieved a 9 in 2023, with successful results due to my effective communication and my knowledge of the GCSE curriculum, having recently completed GCSE French myself. I am also able to tutor A level French, having achieved an A* in 2025. In my studies I developed a particular passion for studying literature, which is crucial to the A level curriculum. I have engaged deeply with "La Peste" by Albert Camus and "Le Petit Prince" by Antoine de Saint Éxupery as well as having studied "Les Petits Enfants du Siècle" by Christiane Rochefort.
My teaching style is student-centered and I ensure that I explain concepts in the context of the broader language rather than as individual cases, helping students to understand languages as patterns. I often give students work to do in between sessions. This allows students to work at their own pace and maximises the time I have with them. In sessions we will go through this set work, which will often be past papers or exercises that hone in on key skills. This encourages students to understand their work, highlighting areas of strength and weakness. I focus on the areas that students need the most improvement on, and value student input regarding what areas they feel that they need to practise.
My passion for French has led me to successfully apply to study French at undergraduate level at the University of Oxford.
