My lessons start by asking the student what they need and depending on their answer, I choose the right methods. It depends on the area you want to focus about while learning, but anyways I would always start with basic knowledge and keep going step by step depending of how quick the student learns. Depending on the needs of the student, I'd talk less or more, because if you want to learn how to speak or improve youe pronunciation you'll be the one carrying on the session and I'll be helping and correcting when it's needed. If you want to learn, just as at school, the method would be me teaching and you listening majorly, although I'd rather not do it that way because I like the student to be implicated the whole lesson. But, after all, it depends on the student's wishes.
