I have achieved a First Class (85%) in my Master's Degree in Mathematics at the University of Bath. I would love to tutor younger students and also adult learners and help them improve their mathematical skills. I am a keen problem solver, having taken part in the UKMT maths challenges when I was at school and achieving a Gold Award in Year 13 before doing the British Maths Olympiad. At university, I took part in the Integration Bee challenges and tutored first year students at the Maths and Stats Help club.
When I was at school, I ran maths society, during which I came up with new ideas of activities to do in the club so that the students would enjoy themselves each week. Because of this, I will be able to provide engaging and interactive sessions for any tutees. Additionally, I was a maths mentor and French mentor where I spent lunch breaks helping students improve their understanding of the subjects, and I really enjoyed seeing their progress over the year.
I have tutored first year students at university for two years, and I have just over a year of experience helping students online maths at all levels: UKMT, GCSE, A Level maths and further maths. I have also volunteered in primary schools to help children who live in more disadvantaged areas with their maths work online.
For four years, I have provided tailored support to students ranging from GCSE to first-year university level, explaining complex mathematical concepts clearly and adapting teaching styles to individual needs.
As a tutor, I will help students understand concepts learned in the classroom by providing clear explanations and examples. Throughout sessions, I aim to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as boost a student's confidence. If necessary, I can signpost students to websites for additional resources. If a student is confident in a topic, I can provide extra questions to stretch them further.
