Hi there!
My name is Luca, and I'm an Italian native speaker from Sicily. I have been living in London for six years now.
I have been a translator for live events and language checks for broadcast television, as well as a private online tutor on platforms such as Preply.
I think that people learn languages best when they practice it continuously, and to do so you need an environment that makes you feel relaxed and capable of making mistakes! Because you ultimately learn the most when you make mistakes, or at least it was the case for me when I studied English.
This is why I like to have 1-to-1 lessons where conversation is at the core. I find this to be the best method because I can carry simple daily-oriented conversations with my students and occasionally jump in, whenever needed, to correct the mistakes. This way, they feel stimulated to continue speaking and I'm there to constantly remind them why certain mistakes happen.
This is also a great way to actually learn new words and typical Italian expressions.
What I like to do is also share my screen with my students and use my second monitor as a sort of whiteboard where I can show them practical examples of grammar, syntax and vocabulary.
I also like to keep my lessons interactive and engaging by playing occasional games that test the progress of our work together.
Last but not least, I'm also happy to include historical and cultural facts in my lessons to give my students a wider perspective of Italy that goes even beyond the language.
