My approach to mentoring
I believe effective mentoring is built on trust, connection, and a supportive space where students feel able to speak openly and work through challenges at their own pace, without added pressure.
How sessions work
Each student is unique, so I do not use a rigid, one-size-fits-all structure. Instead, sessions are shaped around what you need at the time. We begin with a check-in to explore how things are going and any current challenges. We then focus on the areas you want to improve, such as confidence, motivation, organisation, or managing stress and overwhelm.
From there, we look at practical, realistic strategies you can apply in daily life and study. This may include breaking tasks into smaller steps, developing more effective habits, and finding approaches that help you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control. The aim is always to create small but meaningful progress so you leave each session with direction and something you can actually use.
Background and style
My mentoring approach is informed by experience in senior consultancy roles, alongside over two years’ experience mentoring students in school settings, including supporting university students through placement work, and working with young people with a range of additional needs. I am also currently undertaking training in counselling skills.
This combination allows me to bring both structure and empathy to sessions, supporting students in a calm, grounded, and practical way. I focus on helping individuals feel understood while also developing strategies they can apply in real life.
I work with young people and young adults aged 11–25 and offer a free introductory consultation to ensure a good fit.
