My piano lessons are friendly, structured, and tailored to each individual student, whether you're a complete beginner or returning to the piano after a break. With a degree in Music from Cambridge University and a distinction Grade 8 piano qualification, I combine strong academic and practical knowledge to offer well-rounded and engaging lessons. I have experience teaching both children and adults, in private and classroom settings, so I adapt easily to different learning styles and goals.
In lessons, we cover a range of skills, from reading music and developing good technique, to improving aural awareness and musical expression. I place a strong emphasis on building confidence and enjoyment, while also encouraging musical discipline and steady progress. Lessons typically include a mix of scales, sight-reading, repertoire, and sometimes improvisation or composition, depending on the student’s interests and desires.
For children, I make sure learning stays fun and interactive, using games and creative tasks to keep things engaging. For adults, I offer a more conversational approach, whether you're preparing for exams, learning a specific piece, or playing purely for pleasure. I also help with theory and musicianship where needed, and can guide students through ABRSM or Trinity exam syllabuses if desired.
Above all, I aim to foster a genuine love for music and the piano in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether you’re working towards a goal or just want to explore music at your own pace, my lessons are designed to help you grow as a confident and expressive pianist and musician.
