Experience:
I have been teaching English for over 15 years in London and Dubai. I have encountered students from diverse backgrounds which makes me an adaptable and empathetic educator.
I like to think that promoting literacy is my calling as a teacher of English. I am particularly keen on helping learner who are below their reading age.
Lesson Structure:
My lessons are structured in way that ensures meaningful learning takes place,
Here's the structure of my lessons:
I begin by setting clear learning objectives. This provides a road map to ensure that the learner knows what the goal of the lesson is.
Warm up - This is a starter activity aimed at activating prior knowledge or linking learning with real life.
Modelling - This is when I teach the context. I use different material depending on what I am teaching, I have experience in differentiating reading and writing activities to ensure that the content is accessible to all learners, regardless of their level.
Collaborative learning -The student and I engage in further activities to reinforce understanding.
Independent work - I assign a task and student does it independently.
Plenary - I/We check the work to see if learning has taken place. We revisit the learning objectives to determine what we have achieved in the session.
Depending on the outcome of the plenary, I assign further tasks for student to continue practicing on his/her own.
Dynamic:
Creativity, passion, and strong subject knowledge are my core strengths which is why many of my students benefit immensely.
