Hello! My name is Leah and I am passionate about learning for fun and unlocking the beauty of the English language! I love reading and words, and have subsequently become a journalist - including time writing and editing for the Financial Times.
English Literature and Language is a rich subject area, and my sessions would be tailored according to your child's needs. I would happily teach your child how to perform top-level close analysis of texts, or how to better structure their essays so their argument shines through, or how to push their argument and analysis up to the next grade boundary. Personalised feedback on essays can also be a huge help, and I always strive to push pupils to succeed through encouragement and confidence-boosting as I believe this is what helps people to achieve their best, as well as showing examples of the work they could produce. English Literature and Language tutoring is available at GCSE and A level.
I also teach GCSE Biology, another subject I loved at school and which I believe can best conquered through exam technique practice and learning the content with enthusiasm and curiosity. My specialism is the longer-form questions as these are key for picking up top marks, and can be difficult to navigate even when a pupil knows all the content. However, I also like to make content learning fun through quizzes and games to test memory and recall. I am very happy to tailor lessons individually to whichever topics your child finds the most difficult.
