I have several years of experience as a teacher. I teach drawing, painting and art history to Spanish speakers. And now that I recently moved to England I have started teaching Spanish.

As a foreigner in this country I have had to learn a new language from scratch, both on my own and with the help of English courses. I still have my notes from then and, as I like to use a similar dynamic in my classes, sometimes I rely on these notes.

I know first-hand, from my experience as a learner and as a teacher, the best way to get ahead in learning a new language is holding discussions and conversations with native speakers and finding yourself forced to use that language. I like to focus on speaking and listening practice, as this will be the most important part of the practice later. But in order to achieve this you have to pay attention to grammar and vocabulary with a variety of exercises.

I own several books in Spanish for English speakers, to assist my process when needed. In addition, I think it is very important to relate the classes to each of the student's personal interests, livening up what is perhaps simply a subject in which they should improve by working on topics they like but taking it into Spanish. Or thinking about the personal / work purposes that person has regarding Spanish to focus on the most necessary content. My intention is that the classes are productive, dynamic and that we are all comfortable so that they are enjoyable.
