The age and interests of my students are what determine the format and style of my classes. Teaching younger children would include fun and colorful presentations and short audio and video content and interactive games- the main focus would be developing speaking skills. With teenagers and adults, I would focus on improving their writing, reading, and speaking skills while following a textbook. I would include video and audio content, newspapers, or any choice of media that is relevant to my candidate. Additionally, the choice of topics covered in class is also something strongly influenced by my students and their main objective in learning English.
I have previous experience working with children from 6 to 18 and I have come to the conclusion that the two most important skills are patience and creativity. First, constant repetition and practice are necessary in the process of language learning. Here, the tutor has an important role in always encouraging the student and going over the same material as many times as needed. Second, finding new approaches to the same material with different students is a crucial task in the tutoring profession that I strive to achieve. One way of thinking may work for some students but not for everyone. This is where I tend to put my focus and want tobe in constant communication with my candidates as we are trying to find the write teaching style for them. I want my students to be emerged in the English-speaking world in various ways and not feel like they are in a boring lecture class.
