My approach to lessons is to fill students with curiosity and move from asking questions to finding the answers on their own. All coursework, assignments, and meetings are guided by dedication, necessary intensity, honesty, and a sense of humor. I enjoy presenting students with a problem, discussing as a group or team, then guiding them on an exploration to find the answer. The exploration can include, but is not limited to personal experience, discussion and interviews with peers, friends and family, professionals, other educators, academic publications, documentaries, and testimonials.

What I find best to draw students in and keep them engaged is to create assignments that are personally engaging with both current and long-term applicability. As is instinctual to us all, people are naturally drawn to what impacts their lives the most. With the appropriate skills, anyone can become a successful writer, speaker, and communicator. Many of my lessons guide students through strengthening their writing, reading, editing, and research skills which improve critical thinking and overall communication abilities.

I also include presentation preparedness in my course work. Whether someone is creating a two-minute "elevator pitch" or giving fifty-minute PowerPoint presentation, my class will have them prepared with everything from managing the jitters and writing on a board, to answering the most intense questions. Coursework will be capable of creating a presentation drawn from their own written work. Through this process, students learn and practice different ways of communicating about a topic from the very beginning stages of idea generation, writing, development, and editing to the increasingly necessary public speaking skills need in our ever-changing world.
