I am a final year medical student, currently a few months away from qualifying as a doctor with years of experience working as a tutor. At A-Level I achieved A*A*A in Biology , Chemistry and Physics and 988 in Triple science at GCSE. I have a very in depth understanding of the specification and knows what it takes to get high grades in science.

My sessions are tailored to the student's strengths and weaknesses , however all my lessons are efficient, high yield and very productive. A majority of my sessions are done over Google Meets, but I am flexible and open to using other methods. Sessions will be in the evenings and/or on weekends. I am very flexible so we can always pick a day or time that suits us both.

After a few years of being a tutor, I have found that this plan works the best for most sessions:

1. 5-10 minute recap : recapping previous concepts is a great way to encourage active recall, which leads to the long term retention of information
2. 30 minute active teaching: where we learn the material in detail and fill in any gaps in our knowledge
3. 20 minute exam paper questions : immediate application is best to solidify the information learnt and helps improve exam technique
4. Post session: further exam questions / work sheets to solidify knowledge and encourage self directed learning.
5. For sessions which are 2 hours or more, there may be a 5 to 10 minute break in the middle - this is shown to improve focus and therefore learning

We may also use videos, games, worksheets and other materials in session to create a learning environment that is stimulating and fun. My aim is that each and every student should leave my lessons with a better understanding of the topic and also a greater passion for science.
