Konyinsola Salako

Hello, I'm Konyin, and I am a final-year English literature and film student at the University of Birmingham. Literature has always been a space where I explore voices, ideas, and identities—I want my students to experience that too. I balance close reading and analysis with creative approaches so that literature feels alive rather than distant or intimidating.

My goal as a tutor is to help students not only succeed academically but also to find joy and confidence in language. I believe every learner has their own rhythm—some may need more patience and support, while others thrive when challenged.

So I adapt my lessons accordingly. I use discussions, debates, and even drama-based activities to make literature feel alive, while also guiding students in key skills like essay writing, analysis, and vocabulary development.

Ultimately, I want to move students beyond seeing English as just an exam subject—I want them to connect with texts, see themselves, and learn to express their own ideas with confidence.

In terms of experience, I co-directed a play at my secondary school, which involved a lot of script reading and guiding others through language, performance, and interpretation. That role gave me a chance to help others connect with words in a vivid, practical way. I've also supported peers and younger students in their studies, and they've always said I'm approachable and patient—qualities I think are essential in teaching.

I want my students to leave not just prepared but with a sense of excitement about language and storytelling, thank you.
