I have over 30 years experience in teaching to students working at 16+ level including adults returning to study. I have taught across a wide range of types of History and in terms of academic skills development.
The lessons will be tailored to the level and area of focus of the particular student.
The teaching will combine slides and links to readings and other resources. Resources will aim to combine academic texts of the appropriate level that students can access , with freely available audio and audio/video resources. However, the main approach will be a one-to-one online tutorial between me and the student. Teaching will be as much about questioning the student so that they read and research the answers they need, and then are prepared to challenge or defend them when questioned about what has been covered.
There will be formative assessments at the end of a block of teaching, again tailored to what level the student is at and taking account of accessibility needs.
For some students this approach while really ensuring a rapid development of their History knowledge and skills may be very challenging as there is 'nowhere to hide' in such tutorials, they need to have done the preparatory reading and to be ready to discuss it with myself.
This may seem hard for students who have been used to being simply handed the answers or relying on AI to produce them, but it does ensure that they genuinely *learn* about the topics and different opinions on them rather than see writing essays, reports or exam answers as simply moving words from one location to another.
