I'm Dr. Kawa Manmi, a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick with a PhD in Applied Mathematics and over 10 years of international teaching experience. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and exam assessor for Edexcel and OCR, I understand exactly what examiners look for and how to help you achieve your best results.
Throughout my career, I've taught students from diverse backgrounds at every level—from GCSE and A-Level to undergraduate and postgraduate university courses in the UK, Iraq, and beyond. I've received multiple teaching excellence awards and have successfully tutored students through one-to-one and group sessions, both online and face-to-face.
My lessons make mathematics understandable, enjoyable, and rewarding. Here's what to expect:
Each session begins with an engaging warm-up, a puzzle, quick quiz, or game—followed by a homework review to reinforce your learning and address any questions.
I introduce new topics through open-ended questions that encourage critical thinking and connect to what you already know. Our sessions are highly interactive expect mathematical dialogue, not lectures. I use forward and backward questioning to keep you actively engaged.
We work through problems using the 'I Do, We Do, You Do' strategy: I demonstrate first, we solve together, then you take the lead. This builds confidence and problem-solving skills step by step.
I always include real-world applications, showing how maths connects to science, technology, finance, and everyday life. Throughout, I use visual aids, online tools, and interactive whiteboards to match your learning style.
My goal is creating a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, taking on challenges, and discovering that mathematics can be both achievable and rewarding.
