My lessons are flexible and tailored to each student. They tend to begin with a recap of the previous lesson's work - it's easy to remember a concept within the lesson, but a week later, it can be a whole different story. We ensure that the concept is consolidated and if not, we work on it further. Our recap is usually grammatical/vocabulary based. The remainder of the lesson is often led by something the student has requested the previous lesson, an area of weakness noted within the lesson or something which has not been covered for a while (speaking practice, for example). We do a lot of work on exam technique, as I realised while taking my exams how many marks can be picked up not by knowing more information, but by understanding how the exams work and are marked. I show students how to gain marks even when they do not know the answer to a question. No two lessons are the same.
My lessons have a relaxed feel, to allow the student to feel comfortable in asking questions. The idea of 'stupid' questions does not exist in my lessons, and students gain confidence this way, not being made to feel silly for asking something that may be basic. As a younger tutor, students find me relatable and I find a good balance between conversation (usually in the language being taught) and focused work.
I have been tutoring for over 5 years, having started at university - I found a love for helping students, particular as I can understand the pressures they are under and their will to succeed, so continued after graduating. Students tend to jump up between 1 and 3 grades from their predicted or mock grades under my tuition. I have taught over 1000 lessons with students from all over the world.
