From there, I use a simple red/amber/green confidence check throughout the lesson. You just tell me how you’re feeling about a topic and I adapt on the spot slowing down, using a different explanation, or trying a new example if something isn’t clicking. It means you never sit there quietly stuck, and no lesson is wasted pushing through content that hasn’t landed. Some of my best sessions have come from a student saying “amber” halfway through and us rebuilding a topic from the ground up together.
I explain concepts clearly using worked examples, diagrams, and real-world context to help ideas actually stick Biology especially makes far more sense when you can see what’s going on rather than just memorising definitions. Wherever possible, I link topics back to the bigger picture so you understand why something works, not just that it does. We’ll also work through past paper questions together so you get comfortable with exam wording, mark schemes, and the little techniques that turn a 5 into a 7.
Between lessons, I’ll send you targeted resources a short SaveMyExams sheet, a YouTube explainer, or a quick set of practice questions so learning continues beyond the hour we spend together. If there’s something you’re struggling with during the week, you’re always welcome to message me and I’ll point you in the right direction before our next session.
For experience, I’m a Cancer Sciences graduate (2:1, Nottingham) currently completing a PGCE in Secondary Science (Biology) at Warwick. I’ve spent the last two years tutoring GCSE Biology and Chemistry as an Academic Mentor at Al Quds Academy, and my PGCE placement has given me daily classroom experience teaching Biology from Year 7 through to A-Level.
Above all, my lessons are a space where you can ask any question without feeling silly that’s when the real learning happens.
