Dynamic Tutor with training and passion for guiding and supporting students of all ages and abilities. I offer decades of experience in applying strong analytical and interpersonal skills to engage and educate students in English, Maths, and Science, meeting diverse learning needs in a flexible tutoring environment. This is achieved by leveraging over 25 years of legal experience and business management, underpinned by a BSc (Mathematics)/LLB and more recently, CELTA, TESOL and Advanced Grammar certifications.
I love teaching ESL privately online, focussing on reading, writing, listening and comprehension to help students grow in their understanding of the language and culture. Students range from school and university age to business managers and opera singers. Students are located locally and internationally.
Lessons are delivered with a variety of methods including conversation, recorded presentations from third parties, published documents of current and popular interest for both spoken discussion and written consideration. Games for all ages make learning stimulating, effective and fun. These approaches vary according to the need of the student, in particular for those learning ESL for everyday purposes compared to those learning for academic purposes. Assessment of ability and skill is carried out at the beginning of each lesson to ensure teaching is relevant and appropriate. Feedback is provided honestly and gently through lessons, addressing areas of observed difficulty on the spot. I am flexible about homework depending on the preferences of the student.
