From years of experience of teaching Spanish to students of all ages and abilities, I have adopted a holistic yet tailored approach to my teaching. If aiming to sit a public examination, it is essential that my students are well-versed in grammar and consistently expanding their bank of vocabulary, along with expert acquisition of examination techniques. Whereas, if my students were just hoping to acquire some holiday Spanish, a course of situational/holiday-based topics, ranging from eating out while in Spain/Latin America to making and/or getting to know new friends would be followed.
My most recent set of GCSE results were very impressive, in that twenty-one of twenty-two students scored a 9, with the twenty-second student scoring an 8 - a testament to my first-class teaching and guidance.
In the words of one of my past pupils:
“Karen was a wonderful teacher — even now, six years later, I consider her one of the best teachers I ever had. I was raised by a Spanish-speaking mother and so was often ahead of the level being taught in class; Karen would always make sure to individually adapt my work so that I was being challenged and learning new things. She paid exceptional attention to every student in the class. She was strict when she needed to be but with a brilliant sense of humour and ability to build rapport with her students. It goes without saying that I would recommend her in a heartbeat — you would struggle to find anyone better.”
